HI! I just saw this stuff being sold by DAZ by STEAMPUNK. Looks kinda familier???? The top one in case you don't know is my 'La Condom' the other is by Steampunk. I could use some advice here.

No Bryster you aren't being ripped off. Yours has more flair to it the other is just a Poser look a like with no flair to it at all :)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Its different enough to make a case that its not a rip off. But between you and me, the guy was definitely influenced by your design. The boiler tank at mid deck is a dead give away.

That's what I think.

No it is quite different. It coudl have been inspired by yours but there are a lot of differences. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.

It is similiar but not the same....you can also look to see if the DAZ item was posted before or after you posted a pic of yours, that's another way to tell if yours 'inspired' his....

I did something similar earlier than both of you, see the link. Lemog had similar stuff in the Space Opera Challenge at CG Talk last year. Miyazaki had such airships before all of us in _Laputa: Castle in the Sky_ and _Nausicaa_. No, I wouldn't say he ripped you off.

Don't touch Miyazaki, and if you are a true believer in Anime than you should make the pilgrimage to Mitaka and visit the Ghibli-museum. Repent you sinner. Oh and BTW: His best airship are in the Manga "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind", the Dorok Monitors, the Torumekian Corvettes, Strike bombers and Bumblecrows (large, and i mean large transports) and off course the valley gunship.

Those in _Laputa_ definitely were. Miyazaki has a thing for such Verne-sque flying contraptions. Lemog's airships also were steam-powered. I'd recommend going over to the link and checking it out. It's beautiful. The man is a maniac. :-) He modelled individual pieces of coal!
