Frankly, I've given up on trying to do complicated scenes in Poser, and then engaging in frustrating attempts to get the scenes to render.

I've taken the expedient of:

  1. Building a single complex scene.
  2. Once the scene is complete: saving several versions of the same file.
  3. Deleting different items/characters from each copy of the central file so as to reduce the system resource demands which Poser makes to get the &%!!!#$_">+=-$%%%!!!! thing to render.
  4. Rendering each resulting "partial" file separately with exactly the same render settings.
  5. Compositing the renders together in Photoshop to get the final "render" that I wanted in the first place.

It's a bit tedious -- but it's a lot less maddening than attempting to get an entire scene to render: a scene which won't render properly in Poser no matter what you do.
