I have used this lens a lot. The IS does help get sharper photos. The really only knock on this lens that others have reported is slower focus than newer IS models and a little soft at 300mm. I have started using the 120-300 Sigma 2.8 lens as I needed a faster lens for night sports. But I was pleased with my copy of this lens of the 75-300 IS If you are looking at buying this lens, I might be interested in offering my copy for sale, as it has just been sitting for 4 months.
