Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
I touchwood haven't had any major problems with it....well not ones I didnt have before. I managed to use the firefly renderer on Final render with displacement maps checked where as b4 i had to use the setting b4. I had never got it to do that and its worked every time bar once, when i got mem message.. but i had a lot in the scene and pc hadnt been rebooted all day. It loads quicker and I dont have seperate runtimes (i know i should im just lazy) and it also saves quicker....and something a friend noticed...when u go from render screen to preview screen it doesnt hang for hours...where as it did previously

Typically -- as in most other cases -- you won't be hearing much from satisfied customers. Those persons are content, so why say anything?
As I've indicated in a few other SR2 threads -- I haven't seen any problems with SR2. So far, it's been an improvement.
The patch installed without a hitch. P6 opened up faster right away. Runtimes load faster. Rendering appears to be somewhat more stable.
As for those that are having problems of various kinds......shrug you make your choices, and you take your chances. But here's a trite cliche for you: nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I suspect that the majority of people are happy with their installation of SR2. But chances are that you just won't be reading lots of posts from satisfied users in the forums.

All good here. Startup is a bit slower, but everything else, including renders and Python action, is faster and 'cleaner'. Most important, parameter dials move consistently, for the first time since 4. I may actually give up 4 at last!

I installed it and thought I had an issue but after some kind help in this forum realized that it wasn't an issue with SR2, rather some gaps in my knowledge of the programme, so taking that out of the equation "It has also worked fine" for me too! thefixer, poser coord.

I am very pleased! After a comment someone made, I loaded a scene P5 or P6 could not render and bygolly, after SR2, the scene rendered beautifully!! I agree with xenophonz that we are hearing from a handfull of people having problems and it seems like alot. But there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of people who loaded SR2 with no problems. Good luck!!!
Quote - I have read to many complaints here
People tend to focus on the negative for some reason. They are more apt to speak up when something is wrong rather than when something is right.

I'm having no problems with SR2 at all, but I haven't put it to the test extensively, just my regular work in Poser, nothing extreme yet.
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

No problems here. I think it is great. Seems some people are having problems with old Pz3's saved before SR2. Perhaps those PZ3's saved the problems into them. I wouldn't worry. Don't be spooked.

just as a heads up: you might want to poke around forums if you use any poser python utilities extensively. i know some issues have cropped up with poserworks' particles 2.3 (some of which has been patched), and i believe it killed wardrobe wizard on the mac (if philc or kamilche haven't upgraded it, i'm sure it will be). i haven't heard anything yet about shader spider or puppet master.
Okay in stead of reading: it works for me, perhaps if I asked some specific questions I could find out if I want to even try the update. (I have no update on my poser six at this time)
the only problem I have with poser six, is that when I have a dressed figure in the scene, and I tried to select for example the upper on arm-and I can only get the sleeve, and then I keep trying and I think I have the figures upper arm somehow my selection goes back to figure 1-body, instead of figure 1-upper arm. I have to select the upper on arm using the menu for body parts. That is my biggest complaint.
I do use Ward robe wizard which is Python. Has anyone tried that with the new service pack?
I am also running the Vue 5 infinite, and I'm very concerned about imports of pz3's. I have not updated my vue five since version .7
I know I will have to update Vue if I want to shop at the eon store, but I'm not sure about either updates.
At this time my renders are fast, P6 opens fast even with many runtimes. I'm very hesitant to change, I've also eradicated the content Paradise room. If anyone has done this does the update put it back?
Thank you for any information.
Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!
I was avoiding using Poser 6 because I found the original release and the SR1 update slow and there were quite a few bugs so I continued using Poser 5. Since SR2 most of that has changed and now I am using Poser 6 full time. One thing that I do find irritating, and I am using a fast PC with lots of memory, is when making a selection of a body part and there are two or more figures in the scene. For some reason selecting the part can become very slow and a matter of hit and miss. The selection area highlites and you click the mouse and think its selected but it hasn't! There is a disagreeable pause before it 'locks in' making the selection difficult. However, when that happens I select the body part by using the body parts list instead, other than this I am happy with SR2.

I read this forum every day and have not heard anything good about this. I am leaning to not installing it because I have read to many complaints here. Are there any positive stories about downloading this? The word on the street seems to be to avoid it . . . I was looking for a perspective from the other side (if there is one). seattletim
