a new translation thanks to Drea71 Hi, as you might know Ive been photographing quite intensively for over a year now. With my new D70 I have already taken over 12.000 images, which I personally find quite impressive. But now theres something I want to ask ALL of you, especially as there are som professionals among you: First something about my personal situation: Since 5-6 years Ive been trying to find a training postion and for the last 3 years Ive been a trainee in the domestic economy-field. After having finished that Id love to turn my hobby into a profession, because I think thats something Id like very much. I contacted a local photographer and asked for a trainee position, but he rejected me. I asked him why, and the answer was quite a shock: He said that because he received so many applications that he usually only takes a look at the photo that goes along with those and then sends back those files where he doesnt think the person who sent it to be likeable. This has only happened to me twice in the last 5 years that I was only judged by the way I loook. Anyway I made an appointment with him to take a professional photo of me. Talking to him last Friday at the appointment I found out that photography was about 90% what he was doing with me right then. He said something like photography doesnt have anything to do with creativity and he said Id better stick to the job I was doing right now, because being a photographer was not good at all. Now heres my question: Is that also what YOU say? That conversation rather discouraged me and I now have no clue what to do. Stick with my old job or try to find another trainee position?
