The manual that comes with Poser 6 explains some of it. Granted, it's not very well-written, but it does answer some of your questions.
Also, click on the Poser Forum banner at the top of this page and that will take you to the Backroom. On the menu at the right, select "Tutorials" and there you will find pretty much everything you need to get started.
