I don't think grouping as anything to do with importing 3DS figures into Poser. I don't even know how to group, being something of a lone woof. I have found that many 3DS models that I have downloaded call for missing texture files, or have no UV coordinates or those that UV mapper say are screwy. I use 3D explorer to convert them to obj, use UVmapper and add my own texture files. For props that are supposed to be soft, like beds and sofas, I'll import into Poser, magnetize, export as obj, re-map, and re-import. Some PP2's (props) already in Poser format also have goofy or missing texture maps, so they get exported, etc. Disassembly of Mesh Factory props allows me to import tank turrets separate from hulls, guns separate from turrets, and re-assemble them as smart props parenting gun to turret, turret to hull. I look forward to using PPP to make the whole assembly a CR2. I'll also strip weapons, hatches, landing gear, wings etc from one model for use on another. It helps to have a highly detailed model to do this with.
