Well there was a B-17 named "My gal Sal," so who knows. "My Gal Sal" was apparently a popular tune of the era as well. Unless the Bu. numbers depicted match those of the ETO aircraft and it's a definitive fact that said aircraft never made it to the Pacific then... It doesn't seem beyond all reason that some Jug driver went to the Pacific and appropriated the name for whatever reason. Of course, I'm just playing Devil's advocate here.
