erm no. rendo HAS a big(ish) budget. look at the amount sold by them, all with a 50% cut. with the latest cuts, they probably actually have more than the BBC to spend on the website. (the BBC have just had to cut a major portion of their online presence) rendo has been online now for over 6 years. not having this worked out by now is not "trying to do it's best". it's something that should have been fixed 5 years ago. I notice that ppl keep - in error - linking the number of pages open, (that number up there is not users - it counts pages open), with response times. well. I've seen the number there be at 1000 with a response time in minutes, yet seen it at 2800 with a response time in seconds. anyone want to explain the disparity? speaking as an ex-network engineer, the fact the times are random in nature points to the site having some major ongoing and growing problems. this of course is my opinion, but the software here is more than showing it's age.. it's falling over slowly. don't get me wrong, I like the site (mostly), but being told that "we're aware of the problem and we're working on it" for 5 years + actually feels more like "please shut up and go away"
