I can't find pictures of the results of a storm we had here in 1986. But here is a link to some good examples. Our city was shut down for almost 3 days and people were using snow mobiles down major streets. It took my friend and I a whole day to dig away the snow that was blocking the front door. The snow drift was up to the top and over the front of the house. We were literally trapped inside our house.
We had to remove the storm window from the door and started digging away the snow using a plastic pail and plastic kids shovel. After a whole day we managed to clear enough snow so that we could climb through the window and start clearing it off the landing and sidewalk. It took us 4 days, and finally the guy across the street came by with his scoop shovel to finish it. When it was all said and done, our lawn had snow piles that were over 6 feet tall on either side of the sidewalk. And the snow wasn't completely melted until June.
Here is a good example of what we typically get here in an average winter. With major storms like the 1986 one, there is way more snow than that.

"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
