THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: WHOA!?!?!?!?!

MoonGoat ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 12:48 AM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 3:58 AM

Everything's gone! My gallery, homepage, everything! Is this happening to anyone else? What IS happening? Explodes

vasquez ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 1:08 AM

DAMN! it's true I can't see your gallery! sorry pal, really sorry. (mine is working)

Swade ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 1:47 AM

True enough. Your gallery has just vanished into cyberspace. Now that is really strange..... Mine is still present.

Damn Goat,.........sorry to hear that. You did keep back-ups, right ?

Weird!!!... however you are not used to put song lyrics on your images ;-p Hope you will get your gallerie back.

danamo ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 6:05 AM

Damn! I just checked it out and sure enough it's gone! I do hope you had some back ups of your work. This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening.:(

drawbridgep ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 7:12 AM

Whoa! Indeed. I would be TOTALLY pssed if that happened to me. Backup's of the images are all very well, butthe work involved in uploading them all again?! I feel for you. Maybe rosity can restore from the backups they take.

how did it disappear though?

pakled ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 10:03 AM

yup..I did that deliberately once, and it took days to get things back (and that was when they still had a 3-per-day deal).
sounds like a talk with the admins is in order. Hope everything comes out all right. If you know the gallery numbers of the pics (right, like everyone does that..;), I may have some of them..

Ouch! Frightened me! I've just rushed off and copied all the gallery numbers and my waffling for each of my images - just in case this is a rash of deletions. Nasty. Hope you get it sorted easily Moongoat.

It's going to take some time to resort and resubmit them. Wow ... I'm kinda bummed ...

drawbridgep ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 7:18 PM

What did the powers that be say? Where's the backup?

I feel for ya pal! Hopefully TPTB can aid you in restoring your gallery! That's a lot of pics to re-upload, and I hope you don't have to go through that process.

CrazyDawg ( ) posted Tue, 13 December 2005 at 8:31 PM

Moongoat i think someone from R'sity needs to come forward and make a damn good explanation to you on why this has happened...seems like you are the only one so far. If they have done this because of reasons unbeknown to you or if it was a glitch with the site then they need to get it sorted out and give you some form of apology for it and find someway of helping you get those images uploaded/back in your gallery faster than it would normally take.. Suggestion for the latter part, allowing you to upload 5-10 images a day might be a an idea.. My god what is happening to this site, half the time it takes people on dialup a good 5 minutes to get in or you get the SQL error messages or worse your gallery/homepage/evertything disapears.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

I wonder if anyone had your password and played some sicko game.

I know (all too well) that you've had people pretend to be you before. So maybe dBgrafix has a point. Someone is really out to get you.

I had someone posing as me and removed my website......it was going great and I even had offers from National Geographic (France) to use some of the photographs used inside it. 150,000 hits in 3 years and a lot of hard work.....gone in an instant :( I might oneday make another.

Grrr ... true, but the one responsible for the prior incidents was banned from renderosity, I think. I don't see his account here anymore. So I'm guessing its either a tech hiccup or I have more enemies than I thought.

Ang25 ( ) posted Wed, 14 December 2005 at 7:16 PM

Poor Moonie :( Hope that this gets worked out and its found out how it happened. Did you post a link to any of your stuff recently. I once exchanged Identities by mistake with Bryster of all people, lol. But luckily he behaved when he was me ;P.

MoonGoat ( ) posted Wed, 14 December 2005 at 11:20 PM

Hehe thanks ... and I'm researching it. Ang ... you rule.

can you explain that a little more clearly ang? how did you accidently get his password? and started using it?

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

Ang25 ( ) posted Thu, 15 December 2005 at 12:38 PM

Its a rosity bug that sometimes when you copy/paste a link to something in your gallery (I think) that it also copies your password, but I don't think the actual password is visible it just lets the person who clicks the link assume your identity. Confused? yeah me too. :P

Mahray ( ) posted Fri, 16 December 2005 at 2:34 AM

The Rosity bug is that if you give someone a link with your SessID and Sess(something else) on, then whoever clicks it will be you for a while. They appear on anything you click in the first 10 minutes or so after you log on, and disappears after a while. MAhray

Yeah what Tim just said. :) and during that time they can delete, post messages, read your archived messages etc. I don't think that they can change your password and lock you out, but I'm not sure about that.
