If I had enough money I'd get airconditioning! lol If you are getting faulty CD's as well as drive errors Acadia sounds like there is something a bit more wrong than the drive. What program did you use to brun to CD? In all my 10 years of owning a drive capable of doing CD Burning I have not had one bad one yet. But think I don't buy the huge packs of No name CD's (most of mine are Verbatim). After all you wouldn't print all your documents to file on butcher paper.....
