I think you're thinking of Spanki's Stomp. It won't do the trick here but there is a utility called Compose, mentioned in some of the morph tutorials at RDNA. I haven't got it installed at the moment but if I remember correctly, its a java program that will read the grouping of an obj and save it to a file. You can then import a morphed obj and apply the grouping from that file.
