"but don't know if this got rid of it or not" empty your browsers cache and run a full system anti-virus scan. Not just a selected area scan. Run Spybot and Ad-aware as well. Some nastys will make a duplicate copy and write a command to the registry, so if you delete the original a copy remains and you go around and around in circles. Windows XP makes this worse, by using XP's group management security systems against you so you can't delete or stop the files. You won't have this problem but if you ever do...
