Subject: When will Renderosity have stable servers?

oliveramberg ( ) posted Tue, 27 December 2005 at 7:00 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 11:59 AM

Today again; for 45 Minutes a collection of MySQL-Database-Errors. No login was possible. Renderosity was a living dead again. I really hope that Bondware or R'osity will take care on this issue. It's really bothering and takes away loads of fun browsing the galleries (I even stopped browsing the galleries because of the lousy speed). Please! My New Year's wish; a fast R'Osity-Website!

Picture your HDD is fragmented, old, and needs to be replaced, and you need to upgrade from Windows 98, and you want to do it all at the same time knowing you still need to defrag in order to move the data over to the new drive, and everyone in your household is networking off you system for resources.

Multiply by a few 20 thousands or so and you can get a good idea of whats going on.

I'm sorry you have been inconvenienced. If you could only have seen how ridiculous I must have looked screaming at the screen for the last three months, with my family having no clue as to why

LOLOLOL

Hang in there, it'll be fixed just as soon as they can get it all done. This is like trying to relocate the city library to the other side of town without closing the doors while you do it.

If I were them, I would close the doors for a few days, and get everything moved and be done with it...a few days is 'not' going to send them down the tubes. But then thats just my opinion...

I don't make decisions, just the excuses. Otherwise, I live on the same mushroom farm you do pal...

Hang in there, it'll be fixed just as soon as they can get it all done.<< The "fix" has been promised for a long time, Joe. I came to the realization some time ago that there's nothing on this site that I absolutely, matter-of-life-or-death have to see or do "right now." When the site feels like responding, I surf it. When it starts MySQL'ing me to death, I surf somewhere else. Great cure for impulse buying, by the way. Joe - love your high school picture - I used to have that much hair.... when Nixon was president....

Hang in there, it'll be fixed just as soon as they can get it all done.<< >>The "fix" has been promised for a long time<< Been hearing that for what, about a year now. It doesn't take that long to "fix" something like Rosity. I'm beginning to believe the "fix" is all just hype and nothing will ever be done correctly. I'm with rdonovan, when the site screws up, I surf elsewhere as I'm sure many others do to. And, that screw up has also stopped my impulse buying here. Sure saves me a load of cash but it's also not giving any to Rosity which I'm sure they don't like.

Everything's a balance I suppose. None of us know what the books look like, and why decisions were made the way they were.

The PHP Conversion has already begun, that switch is scheduled for next month. The old servers were kicked to the curb last week when we were out for a day (or so they tell me).

The Market Place was the first to be moved to the new servers, now its the Galleries, then comes the Forums.

I'm sure by the end of January everything should be finished.

Remember now, don't quote me. I'm just another mushroom on the farm, they throw crap at me and keep me in the dark, same as all the other users.

Been there, done that, but only as a coordinator. Yep, they do keep you in the dark alot on things like this.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents:) The PHP conversion has not officially started yet. It will begin soon but as of now, we are still in the testing stage. A change for the better IS coming but its a big move over and a lot of stuff to get across so it is taking some time. It is going to happen though and when its complete this should really help the site navigation and speed. I know its difficult to remain patient about this as we (the staff) feel the same frustration daily. But we know that this too shall pass and things will run much smoother after its completed so if we keep that big picture in mind, it helps. Thanks Stacey

Thanx for correcting my mistake there Stacy. Like I said, don't quote me.

You certainly are correct about the frustration. We're responsible for holding down the fort, and in trying times it takes four times the effort to do our jobs.

Stacy always has a way of ironing out my wrinkles though.
