It is possible. I would say load your prop (house, car) first and position it how you want it in the scene. Load your figure up, clothes hair and the like, find a sitting pose that is close enough to your needs and apply to figure. You'll probably find you will need to adjust the pose just a little to get exactly what you want, but finding something as close as possible can help save some time after your figure is where you want it. Once that's done, select the figure's body and then move into position with x,y,z tran dials. It can help to get things where you want a little better to switch between the main camera and the posing camera as you move your figure into position. for a car...depending on angle and if doors are open or not, you can probably get away with hiding everything from the hips down for your render. This might help with getting your figure inside and set up as you'd only need to worry about the upper body that will be seen.
