For what you want probably will have to do a layers lists. probably an ice terrain w/ a lake plane then add the other details like some icebergs etc. Then add a layer to the lake texture. This is only a guess tho and I only have a vague idea of what such a scene would look like...since I avoid cold and snow..altho pictures are nice and safe. :D

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.
