Subject: How to mix 2 shaders....the best way..

bwtr beat me to it.

For an ice object, I would use a multi channel mixer to mix two channel mixers together. The first channel mixer would be a clear shader with a lot of refraction in it. The second channel mixer would be a light white/blue translucent shader (maybe some SSS in it too). Fractal Noise would then be used for the blender of the two. Then toss the ice objects into some very cold water. The more ice, the more ice there is in the water.
