I orderd the download edition. The download took about 2 or 2 1/2 hours on cable. As soon as the order went thru i was givien a download link immediately. The serial number was next to the download link, and was also in the confirmation email.
No activation scheme, just enter the serial number and your name as on previous versions of Poser. (it asks for a bunch of other information, but giving it is optional. Only your name and serial number are required). There is an automatic online registration, but it's optional.
