I saw something in the MP just now and one of the images stated on it "Poser White Light Render". Is that a setting or do they mean they did their own white lights for the render?

Rendered in Poser with white lights, I believe. You know, no colours at all, RGB each at 1.00, which, IMO is the only way to fly. But then, I'm strange like that. :)

It's also being presented as also usable with Vue and Bryce, so it makes sense to tell folks which program did the renders.

It's a great looking package. I put it in my wish list and am thinking about it. I don't really do much with weapons so I probably won't get it, but that sword or dagger (thing on the left) is very tempting.

Hi Acadia - I noticed this thread. I also mainly use white light in Poser. All color settings are the same whether 100% or less.

I use preset lights. How do I change the RGB value of them?

You can get a properties and parameters menu for lights the same as for body parts. The difference is that while you can click on James' chest, for example, and bring up the properties and parameters menu for his chest, you can't click on lights and get the same thing. But if you click on his chest, or any other part, and then click on the upper left hand part of the menu, see file attachment, you can, then, open the one for lights. I'll continue in the next "Post Reply" so I can show another image.

Once you have the menu up, click on parameters and set the colors all to the same number. 1.00 would equal white light. Also, using the parameters is a great way to position lights and control them. I wrote a two part tutorial on Basic Lighting for Poser Figures. It will start the week after next in my front page column. I hope this has helped.

Great! Thanks. I'll give it a try because I've never really liked the lighting effect that I get. I found a couple preset ones that work better than others and I use them all of the time but I'd like a change, LOL

Another question, please :) I really like one set of lights that I use, but I'd like to use them with this "all white" technique. Is there anyway for me to change them once (there is alot of lights to change), and then save them as a set of their own so I can just apply them without having to go through light by light changing the value?

Yes, there is a way. You can save a light set the same way you can save a figure. It's been a while since I have done it so I'll go into poser and do it and let you know how.

Paula Sanders ( ) posted Mon, 02 January 2006 at 7:14 AM

To save a light set open up the panel on the right that has hair, figure, lights, etc. Click on lights where all the sets are stored. At the bottom is a plus sign. If you hover over it, it says add light sets. That is all you have to do. Name it so you can differentiate it and it should appear correctly. If it doesn't, let me know. Then, I think, it should be automatically stored in your runtime folder where the other light sets are unless you have put them elsewhere. You might need to check on this.

All white lights are nice, but remember, adding a tint of color to lights can help set the "mood" or the scene of your image, especially if you're trying to add a touch of "realism". Don't underestimate the use of color and intensity in lighting for your images.
