The origin of my name came after careful thought. My nicknames are an extension of me; be it something that interests me or is a part of my personal history. I also tend to go with "normal" names that are easy to pronounce and type :) I picked "Acadia" because I'm part French Canadian and liked the sound of it. One drawback of it though is that people tend to automatically assume it's ARcadia. I did a search of the site and found that I'm the first "Acadia" here. I noticed that a few who have come after me have used the longer variation "Acadian". I have used other nicks on other sites using a pet's name, a favourite cartoon character, Greek Gods, celesteal bodies, cars, flowers, geographic locations (IE: Countries), US States etc. I usually tag something to the end of it, often again, something that is meaningful to me. Someone asked if we are our nicknames, or if we become them. For me my nickname is just an extension of who I am; a name that is "annonymous" to use on the internet. Real name, or nickname, it doesn't matter; I'm me know matter what name I use.
