While it's true that some online forums - like the long dead Complaint and Debate forum here - are known as "put up or shut up" places, web forums in general, or chatrooms in general are not. And C&D never had warnings posted about the atmosphere - newbies were expected to somehow know. Saying "If you can't "take it", then you should stay away" is blaming the victim.
