You are correct that the texture map has "all the parts" on it, but that in the list of groups, there is not just one place to put the texture. You apply the texture to each of the groups, like lips, eyes, etc., This might sound too complicated. The reason for this is: One texture map, only, needed; but different groups can be affected in different ways (later when you learn more). There are other more technical reasons. The first item in 'poser surfaces' is 'diffuse_Color.' Just click on the litlte pin at the right hand side and go New Node 2D Textures Image Map you will be promted to browse for the texture map and you can attach it there.
