"Needless to say the bugs I reported - over a year ago - are still there." Sounds like Eovia.

I haven't used Eovia software yet, going to try the Carrara 5 Pro demo soon. So no, it was not Eovia.

It took years for them to fix the bugs in Amapi 7.
Hexagon still has some of the same bugs after three patches. It'll be a year pretty soon for that program.
Carrara works great, though. It's a great companion app for Vue 5 Infinite.

have to agree with shonner, i think c5 and v5 makes for great companions, not realy rivals (not the 5 generation anyway). as for the questions in this thread, i seriously suggest upgrading to v5I and getting xStream since youre a max user, that will realy improve your workflow! of course also require abit more $$ :) Anyway happy rendering!
Actually I agree with Shonner. Carrara5 Pro and Vue together make for an unbeatable combo. Lately I have been generating Vue plants, and then importing them into C5Pro. I'll make about a half dozen variations of a partucular plant (Carrara's trees are good -- adding leaf translucency is very cool, but is weak with bushes, etc).
Also, Vue's rock creation with ecosystems is hard to beat. Add the color variation stucco instances as an ecosystem texture for rocks/boulder distributions, and you get some very excellent results. So, if you can afford it, get both applications. At least with Vue5I now being much more stable than when I purchased it (March 05), it is looking better. Too bad you can't convert ecosystems instanced objects to "real" objects as you can with C5Pro.
Funny thing is, I've occasionally used C5Pro to create the terrain, and then exported (usually as grayscale map) for import into Vue for initial terrain creation. In my opinion, C5Pro's terrain creation features are better than Vue's, and compare with Terragen's.

I think the post has been removed due to its unnecessary hateful tone. Posts that discuss the shortcomings of an app are not removed by default. Just look in the forums, you'll find plenty of that kind of messages. Messages that can only be described as childish tantrums are usually removed quickly. I have had some Vue issues too, like most (if not all) of us. But polite messages at the e-on forums have always been answered. Not immediately, usually after 24 hours or so. Which is acceptable to me. Much better than some other software companies - I've submitted detailed bug reports using their bug report form and never have had any acknowledgement. Needless to say the bugs I reported - over a year ago - are still there.
