Actually I agree with Shonner. Carrara5 Pro and Vue together make for an unbeatable combo. Lately I have been generating Vue plants, and then importing them into C5Pro. I'll make about a half dozen variations of a partucular plant (Carrara's trees are good -- adding leaf translucency is very cool, but is weak with bushes, etc).
Also, Vue's rock creation with ecosystems is hard to beat. Add the color variation stucco instances as an ecosystem texture for rocks/boulder distributions, and you get some very excellent results. So, if you can afford it, get both applications. At least with Vue5I now being much more stable than when I purchased it (March 05), it is looking better. Too bad you can't convert ecosystems instanced objects to "real" objects as you can with C5Pro.
Funny thing is, I've occasionally used C5Pro to create the terrain, and then exported (usually as grayscale map) for import into Vue for initial terrain creation. In my opinion, C5Pro's terrain creation features are better than Vue's, and compare with Terragen's.
