Yep. That will make a difference. Something made into the texture can throw things off alot.If you can't replace the fake reflection(which cannot be adjusted and won't look real)then you may need to turn reflection down.It will be hard to tell if this is your problem or something else.You could also try to use only reflection instead of refraction(or try refraction in a 1-100%)Shininess you may want to adjust also. You may turn shininess and refraction down to nothing then add them back that will help you see how each affects the texture.

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.
