Bmnb, if your texture is a ready made bitmap it would be brought in as a 2D texture map in the material editor then you need to choose the mapping mode. If your model is more complex then you might have to apply texture coordinates using another software package like Uvmapper. An image of your model might help us determine exactly what it is you need to do.
