I appologize for asking because I know this has been discussed here on more than one occasion but I think I need to calibrate my laptop monitor. I just got a new printer and the color is a bit off. At this point I'm pretty sure all the printer and PS settings are correct. I even learned about this "Proof Setup" feature in PS. It is most helpful and gives you a more accurate view of the final output. Most recently I calibrated my screen using Adobe Gamma but don't think I got it correct. I remember a few people here posted some good web sites for monitor calibrating...I actually bookmarked these but lost them after reinstalling Windows.

Click on the link and go down to "How to calibrate your monitor with a Spyder" click on the image and this will show you a video. Then have a look on the same site, at a new device called a "huey" which is cheaper than a Spider.

Thanks for asking about this.I've been thinking about getting the spyder,but if Huey will do it for less than that's great. Good luck,Jeff. @Azy...Forgive my ignorance,but why do you calibrate once a month?Does the settings change over time?I would think they would stay the way you put them... :^/

Your monitor degrades all the time every time I recalibrate I have to tweak some setting, normally one of the rgb colors. If you calibrate every 2 weeks (I have been looking at the links I provided and they say every 2 weeks so I will be doing that now) you will be bringing the monitor back to a known standard and if you use the same printer profiles you will get the same results time after time when printing.

At this point I would probably get the Spyder...I mean the Spyder2. I have read a few reviews and the Spyder seems the better product. At B&H Photo it is the same price as the Huey and the new and improved Spyder2 is 150 U.S. dollars. Most importantly "Spyder" sounds more cool than "Huey."
