The term you're looking for in Poser is 'conforming' - and it doesn't happen automatically. After you load a piece of clothing, go to Figure > Conform to... and select the figure from the list. The jagged feet may be due to IK (Inverse Kinematics) being on by default for the legs. That can be switched off from the Figure menu also.
