the pic in post 26 had 1 spotlight at 100% (all white) this had the spotlight lowered to 30%, pretty dark the way i set my material made the iris change from diffuse to ambient gradually as light got dimmer, to add a slight overall glow to it, but the brighter area on the iris is from the reflect node added in (which fades out as light brightens, and changes more to my above glow) just the eye part i did, took 10 min to render about should drop more though if you dont zoom in :P
