THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Shouldn't have done it...

Erlik ( ) posted Mon, 13 February 2006 at 4:08 PM · edited Sat, 14 December 2024 at 7:40 AM

I finally installed my new computer: AMD 64 3800, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 6600 GT. And what was the first thing after Windows that I installed? Not Bryce. Nor Cinema. Not even Rhino. It was Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I installed it at 10 o'clock Saturday evening. And went to bed at quarter to five in the morning. Fortunately, didn't play at all yesterday and spent just three hours this evening. I've been bad. And I've got tons of things to write plus I'd really like to finish a pic or two and apply for Expose. Bwaaaaah!

LOLYou guys are nutz! That why Im saving for my Xbox 360 premium. Keep the computer for computing and the game console for gaming. Only problem there is that once you get the fever, you wont leave your TV set to go start rendering for Expose.

PJF ( ) posted Mon, 13 February 2006 at 5:31 PM

Luckily (?) I have the hand-eye coordination of a concussed bee, so I'm utterly crap at computer games.

Saves a fortune in money and time.

bandolin ( ) posted Mon, 13 February 2006 at 5:57 PM

I have about a half dozen games sitting right here on my desk that I haven't even opened yet. I didn't think it was possible but 3D art takes up way more time than gaming. And every time I try to play a game, a little voice says "You've got a dozen unfinished scenes, STOP SCREWIN' AROUND AND GET CRACKIN'!" Anyone else feel this way? @ PJF: I'd love to have that kind of coordination. I'm like a thumbless Parkinson's patient on a caffeine IV drip. @Quest: Obviously don't have a wife to nag you to death or kids that clamour for comp time.

Yeah, right, pjf. There are games that require absolutely no hand-eye coordination and they eat time BIG time. :-) Like Civilisation, for instance.

Lol Erlik I have Need for Speed: Most Wanted and it is some serious fun. I also play Battlefield 2. Never got into Unreal Tournament too much. Then of course I have my beloved Bryce. Problem is I have a serious case of Brycers Block and it becomes maddening at times. 8

Yeah, but those generally require speedy intelligence - so that's right out the window for me. I can get a really high IQ score if I take hours to take the test. Against the clock - dipshit land.

Mind you, when I'm fit and exercised (about ten years ago) I can clear minesweeper in next to no time. I didn't even need to mark the mines in the beginner and intermediate levels. Zzziiiip!

And - despite nearly always mashing my words up when speaking, I can say:

I'm not a pheasant plucker
I'm a pheasant plucker's mate
I'm only plucking pheasants
'cos the pheasant plucker's late

really, really fast - every time - without any social misconduct whatsoever.

Some connections are good. Most are just shredded cabbage pulled out from an unsuccessful pickle jar.

Strangely enough i have all NFS games that came out, Sports car GT, warcraft 1 & 2, Hexon, Doom, Medal of Honour and a few more games that came out around the same time NFS did. I have never played any of them. I have one game on my computer i play now and then and that is called Ricochet, bit like DX Ball only better :)

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Quest ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 12:06 AM

LOL@ Bandolin, oh Godamn no! You gotta be crazy if you wanna be free and get married anyway. What is that all about? I don't have those problems. So, now that I have a 42 Plasma HD TV, how do you think those Xbox 360 HD games gonna look? More submergence perhaps in HD? Oh, yeahno one to nag back at me either. Living my life and loving it. But I need someone to get me my water. ROFLMAO! I actually had an old doctor tell me thats what I needed and he was serious. PJF, you are absolutely hysterical! ;)

Well Quest, I've seen old pictures of St. Bernard dogs with a small cask of brandy slung around thir necks. Maybe you can have Gertrude carry around a small thermos of ice-water,lol.

Quest ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 12:13 PM

ROFLMAO! Danamo, there is no Gertrude, shes a figment of my imagination. Fact is, Im highly allergic to most fury pets. Gertrude was my facetious comeback to Angs equally facetious question of my having a wife since she knows full well that I dont. Ang and I are good friends and often talk over the phone. But Im still perfectly healthy enough to get my own water. ;)

danamo ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 2:27 PM

No Gertrude..? Gee, next thing ya know you'll be telling me there ain't no Sanity Clause! Gotta bridge you want to sell me? ;-)

Quest ( ) posted Tue, 14 February 2006 at 2:40 PM · edited Tue, 14 February 2006 at 2:48 PM

LOLsorry, just a childhood wish I guess to have a snaggle-tooth bulldog named Gertrude kinda cute I thought. But I do have a bridge for sale and there might be a Sanity Clause attached to it in the receipt. ;)

I did have a parakeet named Condor tho!

Then of course there's an old classic capable of running on just about any PC known as Total Annihilation. A good way to totally anihilate around four hours or so if you're not too careful. (And for those with no coordination, don't mention Windows comes bundled with a few varieties of solitaire.)
