this may be a stupid "newbie" question, but if I download/install victoria3,...will it overwright (therefore eliminating ) my victoria2? That's what happened to my brother on his computer...all his vicky2 stuff was suddenly useless. Or did he do something wrong?

It doesn't overwrite stuff. I am not sure why it is useless other than the fact that it doesn't fit on V3 etc :)

Vicky 3 does not overwrite Vicky 2. If installed correctly, they should both reside in your brother's runtime. However, Vicky 3 MAT poses, clothing and textures do NOT work on Vicky 2, and vice versa.

OK, that's how I thought it should work...I better read the read me files before installing, huh?(I figured my brother rushed and screwed something up!)

I have both. I had V3 first and then I got V2 free last year from DAZ. Both are in my library.

YFYI: V3 also comes with a V3toV2 character that can take V2 textures and wear V2 clothing. The grouping is different than V2, so the V2 MATS wont work, but you can apply V2 textures manually. V3toV2 has no body morphs, but she can use all of V3s head morphs. So if you already have a lot of V2 clothing and textures, you still can use them with V3. And as others said, no V2 file will be overwritten or replaced by V3. They are two completely different meshes. stahlratte

The basic Universal Texture Converter utility from DAZ comes with the V3-V2 conversion (both ways). Price is somewhere around $10 I think, and it's potentially very useful. There's a Japanese site (Yamato?) which has instructions for putting a V2 head on a V3 body, which lets you use some unusual V2 head morphs which don't have V3 equivalents.
