Subject: Public Wishlists - Does Anyone Ever Gift To Others?(Repost?)

kathym ( ) posted Sun, 19 February 2006 at 2:37 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 4:56 PM

While loading my public wishlist up, I got to thinking; Does anyone ever give people they only know from their artwork things from their wishlists? Do merchants ever randomly gift items to people to get them hooked on their stuff? Would a merchant gift at random?

Just enjoying the Vue. :0)

I got a gift once, but it turned out it was an accident and they meant to buy the item for themselves. :( I have no friends. LOL

I have bought presents for friends from their wishlists .. never randomly gave stuff to people at random though. (fraid I havent the cash for that) Closest I get is freebies for the world grins

I have received an item off my list from a vendor. I have purchased a lot of stuff from that vendor. The newest item I had purchased offered a freebie from a list of the vendor's products. Since I already had everything from that list, the vendor gave me another one of their new products for my gift instead. That was a very nice surpise :-)

I occasonally give gifts. Usually to people who have been very generous with freebies or otherwise helpful to the community.

just smiles warmly, and adds a big "yes"...I received a totally unexpected gift and can't even explain the warm feeling it brings and how cool it would be to pass that on...I thought it was a mistake at first, but turns out it wasn't...and I'll tell you something, I am going to do the same thing for someone I don't know when I can...which hopefully will be in the not-too-distant-future, cause I just found out I got my dream job, starting some time towards the middle or end of next month...leaves a little heap o' ((((hugggggs)))) for all and an extra one for a real special person Karen

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

I've given a few gifts in appreciation for kindnesses or exceptionally generous freebies, or even once to get something for a European friend who didn't have any means to make an online purchase at the RMP. Received quite a few also. Fairly common to get gifts from generous vendors also. Biggest surprise was a gift from a new member who had just posted his first question. English wasn't his native tongue, and an unusual phrasing or tone to the question (posted late at night) made it easy to make light of, and as luck would have it, I was the only one of the 4 or 5 responses he got in the first hour to give him a serious reply. One of my suggestions seemed to help, and next morning I got an Email notifying me he'd bought me a gift from my list. Happy surprise. I think they later became a vendor on another site, if I recall.

I've given gifts to people from their wishlist for various reasons (birthdays, for example), and I've gotten them from my wishlist, sometimes totally unexpectedly! bonni

I've given gifts to people, usually on their birthday, and I've received some gifts too, for various reasons (my birthday, helping someone out, compensation for a commercial product that couldn't be fixed, etcetera).

"Sure i would but i dont have a clue how to find the wishlists. Help with a link??" Easiest is to click on someone's name in a forum post, then click thru to their artist page. A link to any public wishlist items should display there.

I have received gifts a few times. I love it! What I like most about it is that it is unexpected and given for no other reason than kindness. ;o) I have also bought some gifts for others on occasions.

I've never given a gift yet. But I intend to, and it will be to someone who has given generously to the freebie section and I've used alot of those freebies.
