Subject: Strategies for Texture reduction?

"Are you telling me that texture vendors, after going through hyper intense effort to get every pixel perfect, then save it out to jpg 80% or 95% for sale? Is that standard?" It appears to be so. Some may not know about it being lossy. Some know, but there's a file size/quality tradeoff that they're willing to accept. A first generation jpeg is often hard to tell from a non-compressed image. As you save and resave it, however, it becomes more and more apparant. In Photoshop you can look at the blue channel and see artifacts near areas of high contrast. That's why If I'm working on something that I got as a JPG I save it in a non-lossy form until I've got it done. At the very end, if I need to for a specific reason, I'll save it as a JPG.
