There's a fairly simple trick to have earrings always point down vertically. Works only with earring props, not with earring figures. First, make sure that the object center of the earring is placed where the earring touches/pierces the ear. This will be the center of all rotations for the earring. You can do this using the Joint Editor (Window->Joint Editor). The object endpoint should be at the center of mass of the earring. Second, create a primitive prop (box, sphere, cylinder, doesn't matter what). Parent it to the BODY of the figure wearing the earrings. Set the xTran and zTran of the primitive to zero, and the yTran to a large negative value, -1000 or so. Make the prop invisible. Third, select the earring and choose Object->Point At and choose the primitive. Do so for both earrings. Now they will always hang down, obeying the laws of gravity. Good work on your first character! Nice shadows and lighting, a great looking face and a wonderful smile.
