My application is Carrara. I used a plane with an image map in it for a splatter on a wall, and I haven't yet managed to get the 'blank' parts of the image map fully transparent, but I don't expect a problem with this (I didn't know about it until I did a render just before going to bed last night). The image map was made in photoshop with some 'scatter' brushes and a wacom tablet as per thundering1's advice. After render I noticed the color was too bright, so I've adjusted it, and will render again when I get home. Attached is my project so far. In the upper right I have a small version of my corrected 'texture map' for the blood effect that I will apply tonight - unless people think it needs other improvements. :) For the blood on the ground, I just did mountain terrain maps with filters to flatten the edges and peaks - nothing photoshop there. ;) The victim being shot in the background is getting done with a particle generator, also not photoshop. The textures on these last two effects might need color adjustment. For the particle-victim, I need to find a balance in lighting and coloring to make the effect noticed for those who pay attention, but not glaring.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.
