Well, you don't need cinema 4D for displacement mapping, subsurface scattering, particle generator and so on. E-on should have a look what Carrara 5 Pro can provide for the same price. In my opinion that's the challenge for Vue and not the professional, but more expensive C4D. ...and of course stability! Vue 5 Esprit often tends to say goodbye. Sometimes with warning, but sometimes without. A good memory management should be able to let your work be saved before the system crashes. Vue's warnings very often come too late. This is a 'must improvement' for Vue6. Don't get me wrong. I'm a Vue user since version 4 and I really like the software, but for me it's far easier to do my landscapes in Carrara now. E-on has much work to do, which they neglected over this shop encryption thing IMHO. I often ask myself, how many people buy content there and if it really pays off for all the troubles they had. Hope E-on gets back on the right track with Version 6. Vue deserves it.
