While fascinating, I think this is if not sick, then certainly sad. This was once a living human being, how sad that he? ended up like this?

these were also in an exhibition in germany, there was some contoversy that some of the bodies were of chinese inmates that didnt sign any prove of consent.

Yup, I caught it here in Los Angeles. Extremely fascinating. Of the exhibition here, the people had donated their bodies to science. If I were to donate my (whole) body to science, I'd rather it end up like this, rather than just disected at a medical school. Someone I work with was saying there is an exhibit in Manhattan called 'Bodies' and she wanted to go see it. While I might be able to stomach such an exhibit, I highly doubt that I could enjoy it the way I do going to a more traditional art exhibit.

They were criminals, so no consent needed in China, although there was some controversy over how the bodies were obtained...... The artist who developed the preservation technique was German, Gunther von Hagens, they did an article on him in the March 2004 issue.... And, if I were to die, I'd have Todd donate my body, I would certainly want to live on in an exhibit such as this, yup, definitely.

Von Hagen did a series of live autopsy on UK TV it was fascinating and revolting at the same time. Incredible stuff.

I would not mind if some artist used my body in his or her art, when I'm dead.

I've looked in the mirror if they used my body it wouldn't be art!

"I went for this exhibition in toronto....it was amazing and fascinating.. they had consent forms kept there for people who wanted to donate their bodies. well, i guess in china it may be a different story. the germans apparently have set up a place in china where the bodies are sent for such purposes."

I've got the programme/exhibition book form when he exhibted in London. Some pretty amazing stuff if a bit disconcerting at times.

Wasnt this the same exhibition where they had a corpse sliced up in very thin pieces placed in a long row? Think i saw something about it on Discovery Channel. Not sure i would call it art though, but thats just me i guess. :)

Marc: there was a gruesome bit of that with a horse in the Movie "The Cell".

I think they could fix that by turning off inverse kinematics. and dynamic cloth muscles might work too... (sorry, too much Poser, not enough sleep)

As for the cows and the horses sliced up, that was also used in the movie the "Cell", where this woman doctor was treating the violently insane and you saw the slices when you walked through this one guys psyche...weird...
