1st; when in the "Picture Room", you must click on a new square, to bring in a new image, or you will just be overwriting your first image, and yes, all your 2D faces will change. 2nd; Use anything uncompressed (bmp, tif, psd), do not EVER use a jpg for anything out of Bryce. Bryce makes horrible jpgs. With a tree having fine detail, you may have to use a "Super (fine art antialiasing)" render. Start with a rpp of 16 (which should be the default). This should help define the edges. This kind of render takes longer, so try 16 rpp first, see if that helps, then if not, go higher. But, try saving all the images as tiffs first, see if that helps.
