Well Pumeco, there are several ways to mix gradients in Illustrator. The top method is simply a straight forward radial gradient fill whose colors can be selected. Here we have a dark yellow center with a deep orange outer fill used with the pen tool.

In the second method above, you have the option of using a brush and you can select the type of fill and the outer stroke color.
