dirk5027 - define 'realistic looking'. '...you have people raving how wonderful a figure he is,BUT, they never use him.' Do you not see the renders on this page. Try visiting the RDNA Apollo Maximus gallery. I ONLY use Apollo for ALL my male characters, and just because you don't see renders in the gallery here, it certainly doesn't mean people arn't using him. As for 'bullying', I resent that. The tone of the original poster's language was aggressive and derogatory to what I consider to be a great product. Had that initial statement remained unchallenged, then others reading this thread might consider the opinion to be qualified by the lack of any response. I'd further I'd note that buzzzloz hasn't bothered to post again to expand on that initial unqualified rant.

Anton, you have nothing to prove :) Apollo is a great figure and many know it. There is no need to feed the trolls :)

Although I don't have this figure (I really don't think I need another figure right now), judging by some of the pictures I've seen done with it it appears to be a really good figure.

Why is it that anytime anyone disagrees with the majority, they are automatically considered a troll...doesn't EVERYONE have a right to say what they think. Some people, on the very of frustration, post a message and that message may show their frustration but that doesn't mean they are a troll. They may have been looking for advice but didn't know how to ask because of the frustration. Some won't even post anything else after they see how they get treated.

AtelierAriel ( ) posted Wed, 15 March 2006 at 4:50 PM

OK, now I'm embarrased. Usually I keep the ReadMe in the file somewhere so that I know exactly who did them. I've looked and can't find them available anymore, so....I'm hoping you're right. They're truly excellant eyes! It's just awful to get old and forgetful.

What I really like about this figure is the ability to take him from realistic to comic so easily. Jungle Dude makes me want to do comics. He's adorable! Oh, to have the time...

And. I hope you're working on a girlfriend for him.

operaguy ( ) posted Wed, 15 March 2006 at 4:58 PM

cherokee, that first post was so over the top, so totally devoid of any factual information, so perjoritive, and the poster so glaringly absent from discussion, it looks like a troll, smells like a troll. An honest post against the model would have given some facts or interacted. It just happens that some people like to post immature flaming trash posts on something they know others value, then watch for fun while people argue and object. It's on the level of an arsonist that starts fires for 'kicks' and hangs around to watch. Let the poster come back and argue intelligently or even rant intelligently if he/she is no troll. ::::: Opera :::::

Of course people have the right to state their opinions, be it positive or negative. However, notice the tone of the original post, and the fact that the person has not once reposted back in the thread to state what it is they are finding problematic despite having been asked several times by various people, including myself. If that's not a troll....

I think there's a difference between showing your frustration and being downright rude. I think it would serve people well to remember that human beings with feelings (as well as professional reputations)make the products we buy (whether we love them, hate them or are indifferent to them). I have absolutely no problem with differences of opinion (or dislike of an item that I happen to like as in this case). In fact I like this - it stimulates useful debate. But statements like '...i have never come across such crap before...' go beyond this. One of my own very first posts on a Poser forum was a bit of a rant (I can't even remember what about now). I seem to remember that I even felt cheated bt some product somehow (might have been about Poser itself, now I think about it), but at no time did I feel the need to use language like is used in the statement above or to not at least attempt to qualify my feelings. Certain language invokes certain types of responses - especially when it's emotive. Aside from a couple of posts above, I feel people's responses have been both engaging and informative about the product being slated. And I've still yet to see any follow up from the original poster.

Atelier, yes those look like the MaximEyez, which I did for RDNA. They will be available in the Renderosity Marketplace shortly (they are in pending). 8-D

operaguy ( ) posted Wed, 15 March 2006 at 6:40 PM

Hey, what about Apollo and eyes, anyway? What are the various opinions? The included eyes? Actual Eyes for Apollo? What have people tried? ;:::: Opera :::::

AtelierAriel ( ) posted Wed, 15 March 2006 at 8:27 PM

I think the included Apollo eyes are just fine but prefered Deecey's eyes for the character I did. Thanks very much Deecey, this is a fantastic collection and so many to choose from! I often spend a lot of time switching eye textures just to see how they'll change the character.

I have the original that came with the character, Syyd's that are a part of the texture package, and the ones from Deecey. I haven't tried Actual Eyes. I think the eye white that Deecey did is very real and the variety provided is more than enough to find exactly what you're looking for.

Though it's really just personal opinion, they're all good.

Does the 8-D mean eight days? I have a product in pending for Miki and it just seems to take forever these days.

And as for the rant...the ability to say what you need to say with a certain amount of politeness and consideration helps keep life civilized. Old Southern expression, "You get more flies with honey," generally rings true. And I don't care if that sounds preachy. Even a Troll should know better.

Billy, You've never seen Cirque Du Soliel? Best Performance art with the human body ever!

As for Troll, posting, is it any worse than NecroPosting and dredging up a pointless troll thread from two months ago?

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 11 May 2006 at 8:54 AM

Seems strange he didn't ask for a refund while he had the chance. And he has yet to come in and explain the problems.  I have to agree....troll...and a pretty transparent one at that. How lame.

i don't know you guys but i have seen this person start a thread ranting and raving about something and then not support his rants with explanations as to why he feels that way about whatever it is he's on about. he starts a post then disappears perhaps to watch everyone's reaction with glee. some people's kids i tell ya.

to lee and atelier...those are great AM textures...didn't realize he could look that good. i don't own AM and haven't really used M3 that much either except on a couple of occassions but your AM's blew me away. great job!

mizrael. .... seen it enjoyed it, never saw any flying nadgers though,  i've also seen people fit themselves into small boxes but i would 'nt call it a realistic pose when they do. unusual maybe..realistic hmmmm..jmo have to say  the body looks superb however the nuts fly hehe

as for the thread. apart from the first , which looks a lot like it's from some one who's bored and maybe an odd one more or less, i think it's been pretty good.  seen some good renders of what max can do. enough to make see if i can get a copy.  seen how easy it is to wind people up. and seen how how anton is still around, which is good (specially if he puts apollo back on sale)

i was trying some animation tests now. and if you use the body morphs in a smart way you can really make it look like the muscles are moving under the skin.
like a muscle rig.

a shoudler moves when you put your arm in the air. so you need to tweak the morphs for the specific pose. we can not have just one body type for every poser. this is not how it works.

file_417522.jpg

I have used AM in some of my Native American renders and I must say that his and Koji´s facial features are perfect to use a base when modeling such characters.

One thing though is that his arms are a bit short ( for my taste ), but that can be altered in Poser.
...and we all do look different, don´t we?!

Thank you Anton, for sharing such excellent work as Apollo!

Rendered in Poser PP and pw in Photoshop7.
Texture and facemorph by me.

ice-boy ( ) posted Sun, 09 November 2008 at 7:30 AM · edited Sun, 09 November 2008 at 7:34 AM

there is a morph for arm length.

edit: ok i found it:
-lengthUparm
-lengthForearm

at the beginning i also found that hes arms are a little to short. then i startedd to read everythign from anton and he made ADS_Scale body dials.
first we have ADS body dials and then scale. only for scaling.
a lot of people dont notice this so they are not happy with the figure. the most importans thing with apollo is IMO that the base figure is not meant to be used. but you need to have a base figure.

plus tons of face morphs. Blender is getting better and better and its FREE. export OBJ head and model a completely different morph in blender. import and use as a new face morph. a lot of blender tutorials on the internet.

rofocale ( ) posted Sun, 09 November 2008 at 7:39 AM

Yep! That was what I meant  when I wrote: but that can be altered in Poser!
In fact there´s a bunch of great dials that one can spin and play around with.
I like that! He is very unique.

Apollo was originally a paid-for figure.
When AK ran out of main stores to sell at, he decided to make it free.

That's what happens when people Necro Post to threads years old! Apollo wasn't ALWAYS free, Hell. He cost me $100 back in 2006 when I bought him. I haven't used him more than 10 times since then either.
