Your welcome,Ilona.This breed is certainly up for verrrry long walks,(they love being outside) and will definately protect you,although not unless you are threatened in some way.For instance,while out walking,they won't bark at random strangers,but if someone walks 'funny' or behaves strangely,then they will get very protective.They are known for being very discriminating in what they get protective about.They are used in Africa mainly as guard dogs,these days,because of this. As far as power,how does 100 pounds of pure muscle strike you,lol?They are very strong!And quite tall,but with lean muscle.They were originally a cross between a wild african dog(where they get that ridge),greyhound(for speed),and mastiff and great dane(for size). If you are interested any further,let me know.There is quite a difference between the males and females for instance...
