Cute photos Ilona. They say cats love the sun but as far as I see, dogs do just as much.If there's a spot of sun on the carpet indoors, they will keep moving with it across the room, lol.

Such a sweet couple of shots vlaaitje. And so is yours Kort. Eija usually hides behind the washing machine where neither Gizmo nor the sun can reach her, lol.
How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when
isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is
supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Aw poor Eija. She's missing out...but maybe swedish dogs are accustomed to very little sun...Love that pic of yours Kortalouche.A perfect example of the sun-loving creatures they are.
I have one too, from way back in my gallery...(hence,not my best, lol, but too lazy today to fix it...) ;^)

Krijgsman: My Tree Of

They are Rhodesian Ridgebacks...a large hound breed originally from Africa. They were used to hunt lions, well, not actually 'hunt',but rather,a large pack of them is capable supposedly of holding a lion at bay.I thought that meant they were brave, but it turns out that's not it.After having 3 I can safely say it's because they are not the 'sharpest' breed shall we say, lol. They really are wonderful dogs and very very sweet, generally quiet, although they do need a good run or a large yard. And being a sight-hound,a squirrel or say,a rabbit, will drive them wild, they will totally forget all obedience. So they must always be on a leash where there's a danger of cars, etc. Are you thinking about getting a new dog?If so,I'd be happy to tell you anything else you may care to know. But one thing for sure, hounds and labs are very different...being bred for different purposes. Lol...this is probably waaaaay more than you wanted to know! ;^)

Your welcome,Ilona. This breed is certainly up for verrrry long walks,(they love being outside) and will definately protect you, although not unless you are threatened in some way.For instance, while out walking, they won't bark at random strangers, but if someone walks 'funny' or behaves strangely, then they will get very protective. They are known for being very discriminating in what they get protective about. They are used in Africa mainly as guard dogs, these days, because of this. As far as power, how does 100 pounds of pure muscle strike you, lol? They are very strong! And quite tall, but with lean muscle. They were originally a cross between a wild african dog(where they get that ridge),greyhound(for speed),and mastiff and great dane(for size). If you are interested any further, let me know. There is quite a difference between the males and females for instance... Good luck with whatever you decide, and please be sure to post pics of your new puppy when you get him.I know we'd all love to see! :^)

Ilona...these are just so lovable. Those dogs are so good around people too.
I sure remember my 2 dogs...every little smidgen of sun that would come through the wiondows, they were in it.
Even if it was only a nose ...
I miss them.
Aaaaaaa My lil male coker spaniel would have gone up against a ridge anyday LOL
He once chased this huge german shepard out of a campsopt we were at once. Came back with a tuff of fur in his mouth, all proud he protected us.
LOL
He feared nothing.
Oh I would love to see you walking all three of them at once hehe.

"The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the
absence but in the mastery of his passions."
Walking two,yes but three...out of the question! That's three hundred pounds of pure muscle pulling to get at a squirrel or duck...no way could I handle that...I doubt most could! And lol, seems your little spaniel was mighty fierce!

And I see Piet(busi2ness) has responded here.Ilona,he knows Ridgebacks even better than I do...not only as working dogs in Africa, but as a pet as well. In case you're still interested,I did a collage of my three with Justice as a puppy...just so you can see how big they get...lol.

Marlene: wow, they are gorgeous. When I was Young I had a big dog too. A Dane dog....very big, with a great personality. A black one with a bit white around his neck. So I know how big dogs are....and how to handle. I always like dogs with a bit more power....haha I bet you have your hands full with these.... IlonaIlona

I love Great Danes. It's their short life span I find toooooo heart-breaking.As it is Ridgebacks don't live long,either...not compared to smaller dogs. :^( But they're not too hard to handle. We manage.Certainly one would be much easier than three though, lol. Well,if you like big dogs...you can tell what I recommend! :^)

Looking at the furred joys in here relieves the work stress and tempts me to also join the I-favour-bigger-dogs syndrome. LOL My dog (Boer bull) does not only enjoy the sun, add food, chairs and swimming to the list and she's OK!Dynazty: O my is that your dog...??? Wow...what a great face.....I see my old boy in it.....such a wondeful dog
