it will work without OpenGL, but looking at your post, you need a new GFX anyway. your're looking at $70-120 for a low end / midrange Geforce which will solve a lot of the problems you've reported.. and the added benefit that Poser, DS etc will love it. hope I've helped in anyway at all..
