I loved working the night before April Fools. The night charge nurse makes the schedule for the next day and when I would be in charge I also created a bogus patient information kardex and placed it into the slot of a patient. This "patient" made the sickest patient in the intensive care look healthy, LOL When the nurses of the day shift came on to write down their patient assignments, one lucky nurse would find that she has the most horrendous nursing assignment one could ever dream of having. Not only did she have her regular 6 patients, but one of them had so many tubes coming out of every oriface, multiple IVs, scheduled tests and procedures, obscure diseases etc, for 3 nurses to care for intensively and still not get it all done in 8 hours. We would let her/him off the hook eventually and give them the real patient information kardex. Talk about a visible sign of relief on their face when they found out it was a joke, LOL
