If I remember right, Zero Mostel did the Broadway version. Haim Topol did the Bollywood version. They both sang the song, but Topol is the Tevye that I remember. I was in tears as I watched him put his daughter on the train, never to see her again. Now my own children are leaving the nest, and traveling to distant shores.
