What you're describing should be possible. I'm hoping to get C4D soon and have been reading up on the Body Paint module as well. Go to the Maxon site and click Products > BodyPaint 3D R2.5. Then over on the right, click on Projection Painting under the Highlights Tour. If that's what you're trying to do, then maybe you could try doing a search for tutorials on Projection Painting.
