Save it as a .psd in Expressions (check out export/import for the options to save as .psd), then open in Photoshop and Save for Web to the size you want for the thumbnail. That is what I do. I use PS CS2. Don't know if you have that ability in some older versions. If not, indicate what version of PS you use in your reply. I'm sure others will have more suggestions for you. Hope it helps.
