Subject: Low prices suckered me into spending too much

gagnonrich ( ) posted Mon, 10 April 2006 at 12:34 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 4:37 AM

I finally added up all my Poser expenses during 2005 and couldn't believe that I'd spent over $700. I thought it was around $400-$500. The weird thing is that I only bought a dozen items that were more than $10 (and only a few of those were more than $20, including WW and the Platinum Club). It was all the lower priced things that I wasn't paying as much attention to that lead to the overall total spending. More expensive purchases tend to stand out and force more careful spending for a while. The lower priced stuff kind of deceptively snuck up on me. I really thought I was being careful. Oh well...I'm doing a better job keeping my spending habits in check so far this year.

only $700, thats not bad I average just over $25 a week. (thats a bit over $1200 a year) well, thats just between rosity, daz, content paradise and poser pros. Its actually more than that if i try to go into all the little stores i buy from.

I don't dare add mine up, but that's always what gets me, too - all those damn platinum club 1.99s add up eventually. What really frustrates me is that I have a ton of stuff I've never used but bought because "It's on sale and I might need it some time!" I never fall for this sales tactic in real life so I have no idea why I can't resist a Poser sale!

Who has the biggest purchase history here at RMP? How big is it? At DAZ? I actually am not sure I want to know! :b_stunned:

My Purchase History here is 271 items long & my one at Daz must be easily as long if not longer.

Well my current Renderosity Marketplace wishlist has over 200 bucks worth of stuff on it. Too bad I can't afford any of it (I will glady accept gifts :) ). At one time my Daz wishlist was over 800.00! So ... I'm not going to add up how much I spent when I had the money to spend. Yikes!!

Just enjoying the Vue. :0)

If you use PayPal for your Poser purchases it's quite simple to figure out how much you've spent. They have a really good accounting thingie. My purchase were almost $900 for the year...yikes!:woot:

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

That tends to get me. Sales are one of the things that DAZ has a better handle on than any other marketplace. They do it often enough and big enough that I tend to follow their stuff more than any other marketplace. RDNA has a once a year half off sale, so I pay attention to them once a year. Renderosity has a whopping 10% off coupon every month that doesn't present much of an incentive to run out and shop. I'll still try to check out the catalog once a year, but there's no real reason to put much more effort into it than that.

Only $700? Man, you got off cheap, hehe I'm scared to add up my expenses. It has to be a few thousand if not more.

I'm not even going to answer the question, but the other half reminds me each time I purchase something new about how much my tally is. It's not pretty, not pretty at all. :(

It's a hobby.I don't smoke,I barely drink,I don't go clubbing,I never take holidays,I hardly eat out or buy take outs,I make do with my clothes just so I can afford it..And I earn the money so why feel guilty?😕
