I used to tell my students that being an artist was akin to spending your life translating the King James Bible into Klingon. An honorable endeavor but unlikely to lead to fortune or prestige... actually I'm pretty sure writing the Klingon translation of the Bible would bring you more of both then is likely to come from brushing oil colors on to canvas..
